Helicopter Seed Up-close
I was sitting outside yesterday and began wondering what was inside those seeds that float to the ground like helicopters. I picked one up and began picking at it. Much to my delight, inside the brown and crusty exterior, there’s a simple swirly bright green seed inside. I grabbed my camera and snapped a picture. Later I looked up the official name and it appears that the seed itself is known as a Samara and the specific tree is called an Acer Negundo. Cue “The More You Know” music.
A Muted Celebration
Here I am eagerly approaching a member of the Free-Hugs Campaign under the Eiffel Tower. I post this picture because I have some exciting news…I bought a new lens! (A Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS Telephoto Zoom Lens, if you were curious.) This isn’t a big deal for anyone but me, though it should lead to some more interesting photography down the line. I was paid for my blog writing on PSFK and in celebration I decided to reward myself. Who said anything about a recession?
Also, in accordance with the suggestion of a friend, I’ve decided to make future images links to the full size versions. My goal for the site layout was to make everything scalable, but apparently on some Windows machines, it makes diagonal lines jagged. By adding links it will enable people to see the images in the original resolution (usually uploaded at around 1200 x 800 pixels) and maintain the same layout of the site. Hope that fixes things.

Panorama Week – John Lennon Wall, Prague
This photo isn’t technically a panorama because I kept moving my shooting position down the length of the wall. I wanted to take in all the detail so I ended up gauging 10 feet or so and adjusting every couple steps. It didn’t turn out perfectly, but it’s a good representation of the enormity of the living mural. After combining all the images, the final file size was over a gigabyte. Since this photo is so tiny on the even the blog’s wide layout, I’ve also uploaded a slightly larger version here. For more information on the wall itself check out this link.
